What are solids?

A solid is a state of matter where the particles (atoms or molecules) are tightly packed together, resulting in a fixed shape and volume, because the strong forces between them prevent them from moving freely, only allowing them to vibrate slightly in their positions; essentially, a solid retains its shape due to the rigid structure of its closely packed particles.
Tightly packed particles: The atoms or molecules in a solid are very close together, with minimal space between them.
Definite shape: A solid maintains its own shape regardless of the container it's placed in. Definite volume: The volume of a solid remains constant. Limited movement: Particles in a solid can only vibrate slightly around their fixed positions.
Resistance to compression: Solids are difficult to compress due to the close packing of their particles.
Examples of solids: Rocks, Ice, Wood, Metals like iron and copper, and Glass.
